Nothing doing

A quick look around Lowestoft before work on Monday 25th January and Thursday 26th January failed to reveal much save for the Wood Duck on both occasions at Oulton Broad the Goosander being particularly elusive as usual especially in the sunny calm conditions.
Visits to Belton for work saw me seeing the Ruddy Shelduck on Tuesday (with 12 Egyptian Geese) and Thursday (with c40 Egyptian Geese) from the road to Belton just 10 yards after turning off from the A143.

Not a lot indeed, south of the Waveney.

The four tundra beans would be nice Suffolk year tick - if they stay at Burnt House Lane. Just one Lizardland record of bean goose for me.

Good would be a rock pipit at Breydon. Both Norfolk and Suffolk countable!

Thanks Paul, for the Tundra beans you need to be there early. Peter

Thanks for the reply.

Had the impression the tundra beans weren't around in the middle part of the day. Came in at 320pm Saturday 28 Jan pm, I notice.

Do not plan to rush off out on a frosty morning. Could go to North Cove or Sotterley and to Burnt House Lane mid pm.

Many Suffolk birders up in north Norfolk for the weekend. Good choice of date. New year birds for me shore lark and Lapland bunting. Second Norfolk year records for snow bunting and grey partridge. None of these seen in Suffolk lately.

Indeed the only one of the four seen in Suffolk in 2011 were snow buntings on 2 October. Whilst at Minsmere hoping the sandhill crane would stop on the scrape rather than go to Boyton in fits and starts.
