About Me

My photo
Peter Ransome
Lowestoft, Suffolk, United Kingdom
I have a life- long interest in birds, even enquiring rather precociously which species of Swan was pictured on my coat hook at Primary school. I learnt bird ID/calls through years of local patch work. I have served on the Suffolk Birds rarities committee. Highlights of any birder's "career" is finding rarities & finds include Red- eyed Vireo, Collared Pratincole & Pallid Harrier, Red-footed Falcon in Lowestoft & other rarities such as Laughing Gull, Savi's Warblers, Red-rumped Swallow, WT Eagle, Glossy Ibis's elsewhere & rare birds including Alpine Swift, Bee-Eater, Black Guillemot, Hoopoe & scarce migrants comprising Balearic Shearwaters, Spotted Crake, Kentish Plover, Temminck's Stints, Grey Phalarope, RC Pochards, Honey & RL Buzzard, Long- eared Owls, Golden Oriole, Barred Warbler, Marsh Warbler, Pallas' Warblers, Yellow- browed Warblers, Red- backed Shrikes, Wrynecks, Roseate Tern etc, + rare butterflies/ dragonflies finds: Camberwell Beauty, Lesser Emperor & Yellow- winged Darters. Love Orchids too & I give talks to local clubs. I am passionate about wildlife & saving habitat.
